This quaint tourist town has a ton of different restaurants, with many specializing in pizza or having pizza on the menu, and this blog post will help you pick out the best restaurants that serve pizza in Gatlinburg TN.

We will also list any allergen information that we know about these restaurants, which can be very helpful if you have any dietary restrictions. One of our sons is allergic to dairy so we understand how important that can be!

Why Try Pizza in Gatlinburg?

With so many dining options, why choose pizza when you are looking for something to eat in Gatlinburg?

For starters, pizza is one of the most popular food items in the United States. It’s estimated that 98% of Americans have eaten pizza at least once in their lifetime and that a whopping 350 slices of pizza are eaten in the US every second! (source)

Pizza is also a great option when you’re looking for something to share with a group. Whether you’re traveling with family or friends, it’s always more fun to share a pizza (or two) than to order your own individual entrées.

And finally, Gatlinburg is home to some really great pizza places that are definitely worth trying out! You won’t find major chain restaurants on this list, like Dominos, Pizza Hut, Little Caesar’s or Papa John’s, which are all available in the area, just more local ones or smaller chains.

Pretty much all of these great restaurants have all your traditional favorite toppings (like pepperoni, Italian sausage, black olives, green peppers, pineapple, ground beef, white sauce, etc) so you can build your own pizza, and they also offer their own specialty pizzas, too. Most all have homemade sauces, use fresh ingredients and homemade dough, so if you’re looking for a delicious pizza in downtown Gatlinburg, you won’t go wrong with any of these best pizza restaurants.

Now that we’ve convinced you to try pizza while you’re in Gatlinburg, let’s take a look at some of the best pizza places in this Smoky Mountain town.

The Best Places to Get Pizza in Gatlinburg

Big Daddy’s Pizzeria

If you’re looking for authentic wood-fired pizza, look no further than Big Daddy’s Pizzeria. All of their pizzas are cooked in a wood-fired oven, which gives the crust a delicious smoky flavor. Now they are offering a sausage crust pizza, so if you are doing low carb or keto, you have to try it with their fresh toppings!

In fact, they even cook their chicken wings in the wood-fired oven! We got several appetizers to share as a family last time and they were all delicious. We’ve had their pizza before, too and everything has been amazing.

On the Menu: Wood-fired pizzas, wings, dough daddies, salads, sandwiches, and desserts. In addition to traditional toppings like pepperoni and sausage, they also offer some more unique topping combinations, like the Smoky Mountain Cheesesteak pizza and the Porky Pie pizza.

**They have gluten free and dairy free options here. See the allergen FAQ’s here

Location: 714 River Rd, sharing a building with Bennett’s BBQ (there are also locations in Pigeon Forge and Sevierville)

Ski Mountain Pizza

This Gatlinburg pizza place serves up some authentic New York style pizza, pasta, subs and a whole lot more! They have a really cute location off the beaten path and they are definitely worth checking out. If you’ve never tried New York pizza you should really give this pizzeria of Gatlinburg a try.

As of this writing they are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, so keep that in mind if you are looking for pizza on one of these weekdays.

On the Menu: You can get all your traditional pizza toppings here, but also some amazing garlic cheese bread, loaded fries, salads, calzones, boneless wings, pasta, subs and more.

**They also have gluten free pizza on their menu.

Mellow Mushroom Gatlinburg

Now, I know this is a chain restaurant that you can get outside the Smokies, but it still makes our list because it has some amazing pizza with great allergen options.

The Mellow Mushroom is well known for its amazing line up of stone-baked pizzas, awesome atmosphere and liquid karma cocktails, but they have a whole lot more that you should try.

On the Menu: Traditional favorite pizzas as well as specialty ones like Kosmic Karma, Funky Q. Chicken and Holy Shiitake Pie. They have a vegan and gluten free menu, which is great for families like mine with allergies, and also amazing salads, sandwiches, burgers, calzones and more.

**In our opinion they have the best allergen options with an entire vegan and gluten free menus (you can even get a gluten free brownie here!). It’s easy to find these menus on the website under their “menu” tab.

Location: 903 Parkway, Suite 103 (there are many Mellow Mushroom locations in the US, and you’ll find another at the Island for their Pigeon Forge location)

Best Italian Cafe and Pizzeria

This is the first local pizza place we ever visited in Gatlinburg! It has amazing pizza, which we devoured (we get our son a cheeseless pizza here) and the signature garlic rolls are the best!

The pizzas here are good sized and they also offer lots of Italian dishes in their full restaurant in Elks Plaza for those who maybe don’t want pizza.

On the Menu: The signature garlic rolls are a must-try, and they also have traditional favorite pizzas, lots of spaghetti pasta dishes, lasagna, and just about any other Italian pasta dish you could want. The calamari and fried ravioli on the appetizer menu are also delish. They also have a good sized kid’s menu, full of more than just pizza.

**You won’t find many allergy options here. Since our son is only allergic to dairy we get a cheeseless pizza with toppings and he really enjoys it.

Location: 968 Parkway for the full restaurant, and an Express Location at 710 Parkway

They do serve beer and they also allow you to bring a bottle of wine into the restaurant. There is no corking fee and they will provide the glasses.

On the Menu: Traditional favorite pizzas and also all the Italian dishes you could wish for. Bottle and draft beers, calzones, strombolis, hot and cold subs, salads, burgers, sandwiches and more.

***They do have some gluten free and vegetarian options, but you will still need a cheeseless regular pizza if you have a dairy allergy.

Smoky Mountain Brewery

This is the only place on our list that isn’t a pizza or Italian restaurant. In fact, this is primarily a brewery with great craft beer, but they have amazing eats including some of the best pizza in Gatlinburg! This is the perfect place if you want a unique brew with your gourmet pizzas.

We also really love the atmosphere here. It’s been described as a cross between a ski lodge and a Bavarian beer hall. The enclosed deck is an amazing place to eat if the weather is nice.

On the Menu: Micro brewed beer, tons of snacks, appetizers, wings, sandwiches, subs, pasta, burgers, brewery entrees, salads, and a wonderful menu of hand tossed pizzas and calzones with all of the traditional favorites and they also have a pizza of the month if you want to try something new.

***They do have a great selection of gluten free items, which you can see on their gluten free menu here.

Location: 1004 Parkway (they also have locations in Pigeon Forge, Turkey Creek and Maryville, TN)
